Flat files are a necessary part of a photographer’s tool kit, but they take up valuable floor space, and have a thin, often dented, metal top that isn’t a great surface to work on, especially at knee height! This flat file riser and Formica work surface turn a flat file into an extension of the adjacent desk.

The joints at the mitered corners of the flat file riser are ground flush so that it the assembly looks like one piece of steel. We chose red to go with the racing stripes on the nearby desk panel.

I’m a big fan of these nickel-plated leveling feet. They let you adjust the position of the piece of furniture to align with the adjacent furniture, or to accommodate the unevenness of the floor. They have a smooth bottom so they won’t damage your floor finishes.
